Troy began his professional journey after earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from Colorado State University–Pueblo. He joined the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as a revenue agent, where he audited small-business operators, self-employed taxpayers, and individuals earning wages.
That experience gave Troy an insider’s understanding of the IRS and a broad foundation in taxation. He soon realized, however, that his strengths were better suited to advocating for taxpayers than representing the government. After becoming a Certified Public Accountant in January 2008, he began preparing returns and assisting taxpayers with tax representation—and has continued ever since.
